Infusing Portuguese folk roots into a global, baroque pop-rock palette of sound, Tori Costa’s niche fusion genre of Luso-Americano rock is boundary-pushing, exotically enchanting, and entirely her own. Her distinct contralto range reminisces upon the fado tradition, melded into a vulnerable yet provocative rock-and-roll delivery that is simultaneously nostalgic and avant-garde.
The rollout of Tori’s debut full-length album, PURGATORIA, has carved out a unique lane for her ever-evolving sound in the Lusitano music scene and beyond. With this highly-anticipated release, Tori has been featured on popular Portuguese media outlets including RTP (Radio e Televisão de Portugal), The Portuguese Channel, 97.3 WJFD Paralelo and 95.9 WATD Almost Famous; as well as receiving a nomination for a New England Music Award. In the past year, she has played some of the biggest Portuguese cultural festivals in North America, including the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford, MA; in addition to sharing the stage with international touring acts Romeu Bairos and Neal & The Vipers.
Tori’s bold artistry is moving audiences to new heights with her natural crowd intuition, clever humor and versatility as a multi-instrumentalist with a dance background. Costa’s Azorean heritage and southern New England origins are evident throughout her lyrical themes and portrayals.
